How to get your Coresignal API usage, balance and spend programmatically

Coresignal has no balance endpoint. Remaining credits come back in the x-credits-remaining header on API responses. Argus reads it from an es_dsl search, which costs no credits.

Credential. A Coresignal API key, sent in an apikey header (not Bearer).

Balance from headers

curl -i -X POST https://api.coresignal.com/cdapi/v2/company_multi_source/search/es_dsl \
  -H "apikey: $CORESIGNAL_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"query":{"term":{"id":1}}}'
x-credits-remaining: 1960

Trimmed to the fields Argus reads. Values are examples.

Gotchas

  • Coresignal's docs confirm the header on collect and enrich responses. They don't say whether free search responses carry it.
  • Collect and Search are separate credit pools. Multi-source company and employee records cost 2.

How Coresignal charges

Two credit pools — Collect (fetch/enrich a record) and Search (run a query); 1 credit each, multi-source Company/Employee = 2. Self-serve tiers + custom Datasets.

Free allowance. 200 on signup. 7-day trial: 200 collect + 400 search credits.

At zero. 402 insufficient credits; 429 rate limit. Annual grants credits upfront.

  • 18 requests per second, per key.

Or let Argus track it

Paste the key once. Argus keeps the ledger, and your coding agent reads it through the MCP server.

  • Reads the Coresignal balance every hour and keeps the series, so you get burn per day (top-ups never count as negative spend) and days until it hits zero.
  • With the SDK, itemizes each call by endpoint and prices it at Coresignal's per-operation rates.
  • Emails you on low balance, days to zero, a spend spike, or projected overage.
  • Hands all of it to your coding agent over MCP, so it can ask what a run cost or how much runway is left without leaving the editor.
> what has coresignal cost today, and how long until it runs out?

get_overview → coresignal: mtd spend, burn per day, days to zero
get_request_costs  { "provider": "coresignal", "limit": 25 }
get_advisories → credits_low, spend_spike, rate_limit_low …

Questions

Does Coresignal have an API for its balance?
Coresignal has no balance endpoint. Remaining credits come back in the x-credits-remaining header on API responses. Argus reads it from an es_dsl search, which costs no credits.
Can I get Coresignal spend per day from the API?
Not as a series. Derive it from how much the balance drops each day, ignoring top-ups.
What happens when Coresignal credits run out?
402 insufficient credits; 429 rate limit. Annual grants credits upfront.
What key does Argus need for Coresignal?
A Coresignal API key, sent in an apikey header (not Bearer).
