Balance
curl https://api.brightdata.com/customer/balance \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $BRIGHTDATA_API_TOKEN"
{ "balance": 412.67, "pending_balance": 18.2 }Trimmed to the fields Argus reads. Values are examples.
Gotchas
- Usage is deducted daily from the deposit, so the balance moves in steps, not per request.
- Insufficient funds suspends service. Your remaining funds are kept.
- Per-zone cost (GET /zone/cost) and bandwidth (GET /zone/bw) exist. Argus reads the account balance today.
How Bright Data charges
Prepaid usage-based (per GB / per 1k requests / per record), deducted daily from a deposited balance. Optional committed monthly plans cut unit rates.
| Plan | Monthly price |
|---|---|
| Pay-as-you-go | Contact sales |
| $499/mo | $499 |
Free allowance. 5,000 a month. ~$7.50 credits; excludes proxies.
At zero. 402. Insufficient funds → service suspended (funds retained). Auto-recharge below 85% of commitment.
- 100 requests per second, per org. 1,000 req/min unfunded.
Or let Argus track it
Paste the key once. Argus keeps the ledger, and your coding agent reads it through the MCP server.
- Reads the Bright Data balance every hour and keeps the series, so you get burn per day (top-ups never count as negative spend) and days until it hits zero.
- With the SDK, itemizes each call by endpoint and prices it at Bright Data's per-operation rates.
- Emails you on low balance, days to zero, a spend spike, or projected overage.
- Hands all of it to your coding agent over MCP, so it can ask what a run cost or how much runway is left without leaving the editor.

- Does Bright Data have an API for its balance?
- Yes. GET https://api.brightdata.com/customer/balance returns your account balance and pending balance in USD.
- Can I get Bright Data spend per day from the API?
- Not as a series. Derive it from how much the balance drops each day, ignoring top-ups.
- What happens when Bright Data credits run out?
- Requests fail with HTTP 402. Insufficient funds → service suspended (funds retained). Auto-recharge below 85% of commitment. Auto-recharge is available.
- What key does Argus need for Bright Data?
- A Bright Data API token.
