Gotchas
- The plan fee is the usage budget. It converts 1:1 into prepaid platform-usage dollars.
- Free hard-stops at the budget. Paid plans keep running at plan unit rates past it unless you cap maxMonthlyUsageUsd.
- For a per-day breakdown, GET /v2/users/me/usage/monthly returns USD, unit prices and daily rows.
How Apify charges
Subscription fee converts 1:1 into prepaid platform-usage dollars, metered at per-unit rates; Actor marketplace adds pay-per-event pricing.
| Plan | Monthly price |
|---|---|
| Free | $0 |
| Starter | $29 |
| Scale | $199 |
| Business | $999 |
Free allowance. 5 a month. $5 platform usage.
At zero. 429. Paid plans continue at plan unit rates (metered overage); Free hard-stops. Cap via maxMonthlyUsageUsd.
- 60 requests per second, per key. 250,000 req/min global per user.
Or let Argus track it
Paste the key once. Argus keeps the ledger, and your coding agent reads it through the MCP server.
- Reads the Apify balance every hour and keeps the series, so you get burn per day (top-ups never count as negative spend) and days until it hits zero.
- Tracks the plan: the allowance, what's used this period, the reset date, and when you cross into overage.
- With the SDK, itemizes each call by endpoint and prices it at Apify's per-operation rates.
- Emails you on low balance, days to zero, a spend spike, or projected overage.
- Hands all of it to your coding agent over MCP, so it can ask what a run cost or how much runway is left without leaving the editor.

- Does Apify have an API for its balance?
- Yes. GET https://api.apify.com/v2/users/me/limits returns the monthly usage cycle, your plan's USD budget (maxMonthlyUsageUsd) and the USD used so far.
- Can I get Apify spend per day from the API?
- Not as a series. Derive it from how much the balance drops each day, ignoring top-ups.
- What happens when Apify credits run out?
- Requests fail with HTTP 429. Paid plans continue at plan unit rates (metered overage); Free hard-stops. Cap via maxMonthlyUsageUsd.
- What key does Argus need for Apify?
- A normal Apify API token.
