How to get your Apollo.io API usage, balance and spend programmatically

Yes, if your key is allowed to read it. POST https://api.apollo.io/api/v1/usage_stats/credit_usage_stats returns each credit pool's limit, consumed and left_over, plus the current credit cycle. The call costs 0 credits.

Credit pools

curl -X POST https://api.apollo.io/api/v1/usage_stats/credit_usage_stats \
  -H "X-Api-Key: $APOLLO_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json"
{

    "lead_credit": { "limit": 12000, "consumed": 4310, "left_over": 7690 },

Gotchas

  • Auth is header-only (X-Api-Key) since September 2024. Keys in the query string or body no longer work.
  • On unified plans lead_credit already nets mobile, export and power-up spend. Don't add the pools together.
  • dialer is minutes, not credits.
  • Credits are weighted by operation: an email costs 1, a phone number 8.
  • GET /api/v1/auth/health is a free key check.

How Apollo.io charges

Per-seat plans with credits granted upfront (annual) or monthly (Free), operation-weighted (email 1, phone 8). Plus team-level feature add-ons (Inbound, Advanced Dialer).

PlanMonthly price
Free$0
Basic$49
Professional$79
Organization$119

Free allowance. 75 a month. 900/seat/year on Free.

At zero. 402. Credits granted upfront per term; buy additional credits in-app when depleted.

Or let Argus track it

Paste the key once. Argus keeps the ledger, and your coding agent reads it through the MCP server.

  • Reads the Apollo.io balance every hour and keeps the series, so you get burn per day (top-ups never count as negative spend) and days until it hits zero.
  • With the SDK, itemizes each call by endpoint and prices it at Apollo.io's per-operation rates.
  • Emails you on low balance, days to zero, a spend spike, or projected overage.
  • Hands all of it to your coding agent over MCP, so it can ask what a run cost or how much runway is left without leaving the editor.
> what has apollo cost today, and how long until it runs out?

get_overview → apollo: mtd spend, burn per day, days to zero
get_request_costs  { "provider": "apollo", "limit": 25 }
get_advisories     → credits_low, spend_spike, rate_limit_low …

Questions

Does Apollo.io have an API for its balance?
Yes, if your key is allowed to read it. POST https://api.apollo.io/api/v1/usage_stats/credit_usage_stats returns each credit pool's limit, consumed and left_over, plus the current credit cycle. The call costs 0 credits.
Can I get Apollo.io spend per day from the API?
Not as a series. Derive it from how much the balance drops each day, ignoring top-ups.
What happens when Apollo.io credits run out?
Requests fail with HTTP 402. Credits granted upfront per term; buy additional credits in-app when depleted.
What key does Argus need for Apollo.io?
An Apollo API key with the usage stats endpoint in its scope, or a master key. A narrower key returns 403.
